High-performance centers organize collaborations between university and non-university research institutions and the world of business. They are characterized by integrated, binding road maps they create for stakeholders in the dimensions of research, education, promoting young talent, infrastructure, innovation and transfer. They also provide a tool for policymakers to prioritize the development of excellence in research with benefits for society as a whole.
The High-Performance Center Mass Personalization combines the expertise gathered across sectors by four Fraunhofer institutes and ten university institutes in Stuttgart, as well as numerous industrial enterprises. It conducts research on an interdisciplinary and cross-sector basis into methods, techniques, processes, product systems and business models for manufacturing personalized products. The direct link with industry guarantees that research into principles and applications is based on existing needs and ensures that the latest results of research are transferred directly into practice.
The High-Performance Center Mass Personalization was launched in October 2017 as a joint initiative of the Stuttgart-based Fraunhofer institutes IAO, IBP, IGB and IPA, as well as the University of Stuttgart and industrial enterprises from the region.
